Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 April 2026

We wrote this policy to be readable by a real person — not just a lawyer. If something is unclear, email us at support@stratabody.com.au and we'll explain it plainly.

1. Who we are

StrataBody is an Australian software platform built for self-managed owners corporations and strata committees. When you use StrataBody, we collect and handle certain information so we can provide the service. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it.

We take privacy seriously — your scheme's data is sensitive, and we treat it that way.

2. What information we collect

We collect a few categories of information:

  • Account details — your name and email address when you sign up.
  • Scheme and role data — your tenant membership, committee role, and lot information.
  • Content you enter — meeting records, maintenance requests, levy data, documents, notices, and other information your committee manages through the platform.
  • Usage and technical data — standard log and session data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used to keep the service running reliably and securely.

We don't collect information we don't need, and we don't ask for things like your payment card details directly — billing is handled by our payment provider, Stripe.

3. Why we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the StrataBody platform for your scheme.
  • Enforce role-based access so the right people see the right information — and nothing more.
  • Send important account communications (security alerts, billing receipts).
  • Improve the platform — understanding how committees use StrataBody helps us build better tools.
  • Meet our legal and compliance obligations.

We don't use your data for advertising. Ever.

4. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information to anyone. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us run StrataBody — for example, our hosting infrastructure, authentication service, and billing provider. Each of these providers is subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.

We may disclose information where required by Australian law or a lawful request from a government authority.

5. Where your data is stored

StrataBody is built on Supabase, which uses AWS infrastructure. Your scheme's data is stored in Australian AWS regions where available. Some supporting services (such as authentication or monitoring) may process data in other regions. Where data is processed outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to an equivalent standard.

Every scheme's data is strictly isolated — row-level security ensures one scheme cannot access another's data.

6. Security

We use tenant isolation, role-based access controls, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and infrastructure-level security controls to protect your data. We review our security practices regularly.

No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously and act quickly if we identify a problem.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account, and for a reasonable period after cancellation so you can export records. Some data may be retained longer where required by Australian law (for example, financial records).

When you close your account, we'll provide you with a data export before deleting your records.

8. Your rights and choices

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to:

  • Access personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or out-of-date information.
  • Request deletion of your information, where legally and operationally possible.
  • Understand how your information is being used.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@stratabody.com.au. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Cookies and tracking

StrataBody uses session cookies to keep you logged in and to secure your account. We don't use advertising tracking cookies or third-party analytics that fingerprint individual users. Basic, privacy-respecting usage analytics may be used to understand how the platform is being used at an aggregate level.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify active users by email. We won't change this policy in ways that reduce your privacy rights without telling you.
